Missional Serving Communities

Fall 2024 Update

Community Engagement

This year we are seeking to be more intentionally engaged in the city of Rocklin and the neighborhood directly surrounding Community Covenant Church. Here are some ways you or your small group can get involved: Prayer and Presence.

Praying for our community

First and foremost we want to commit to regularly praying for Parker Whitney Elementary School and the surrounding neighborhood. If you or your small group would like to participate in weekly/monthly prayer walks around the neighborhood, please sign up here: Neighborhood Prayer Walks

Becoming a presence in the community

This year we want to make some intentional efforts to “show up” and be a presence in our community. Opportunities may include Creek Clean-ups near Whitney High School, volunteering at Parker Whitney Elementary, welcoming new families to the neighborhood, or attending local city events together. If you love the city of Rocklin and want to help our church “show up” in our community, we’d love to have you join our Community Engagement Team.

What are Missional Serving Communities?

Missional Serving Communities (MSCs) are small groups formed with an intentional focus on “Serving”. While service is the heart and eventual goal of these groups, time will also be spent connecting with one another and growing closer to God through scripture, study, and prayer.

How do I get involved?

There are several ways to get involved with MSCs!

We have a number of service opportunities throughout the year that we encourage EVERYONE to take part in. (Whether or not you are part of a small group, EVERYONE is welcome to participate in MSC service opportunities!)

In addition to the occasional service opportunity, you may decide to join a small group or journey through MSC 1.0 with a new group. This year we are also looking for people to commit to monthly prayer walks in our surrounding neighborhood.

For more info check out the most recent MSC Update or contact Chrissy Kaetzel at ckaetzel@rocklincov.org.

MSC 1.0 & 2.0: We currently have a 1.0 Pathway for those new to MSCs and a 2.0 Pathway for those who have completed the first year of MSCs. These pathways give participants the opportunity to engage in topics such as homelessness, refugees, and creation care and consider how we may take part in what God is already doing and serve our community in a variety of ways. For more info, check out the MSC 1.0 FAQ page.

Becoming Good Neighbors

We created a 6-Week video-based curriculum on missional living in the context of our communities. This series can be done individually, with small groups, or with a couple of friends. However you want to do it, we created this to be flexible and accessible for everyone. Click here to start your 6-week journey today!
