MSC 1.0 - FAQs

What MSC 1.0?

  • For those who are new to the MSC journey, we encourage you to join us for MSC1.0. This is a one year journey designed to help participants explore and engage various topics and issues in our community and potential ways to get involved.

How long does it last?

  • For those who are new to MSCs, we encourage you to commit to an entire ministry year (e.g. Fall 2024 through Spring 2025). This time will be split into 3 units. Here is a sample schedule:

    • Unit 1: September 15-November 10

    • Unit 2: January 12-March 9

    • Unit 3: April 6-May 18

What happens in a Unit?

  • Each Unit will focus on a particular issue or topic. For example, Unit 1 will focus on the topic of Homelessness.

  • Each Unit will be comprised of 6 steps: Pray, See, Learn - parts 1 & 2, Serve, and a Debrief/Celebration

How can we expect to fully understand an issue or topic after just 6 weeks?

  • The MSCs are adopting a “sampler platter” approach. Each MSC Unit will only give the group a taste of the specific topic. After completing all three Units, the goal is for every individual to identify which Unit resonated most with them. Year 2 will provide people opportunities to dive deeper into a specific issue or topic.

If we do Unit 1, do we have to do Units 2 & 3?

  • You/your group will get the most out of the MSC experience if you complete all three Units.

Can someone be part of a MSC and another existing small group?

  • Technically, yes but that would require a lot of time. It is not recommended, but it’s ultimately your decision.

Do the groups have to meet on Sundays?

  • Groups do not have to meet on Sundays. Your group can choose whatever day/time works best for everyone. But the MSC groups will need to meet weekly, with each week building upon the previous week’s conversation and experience.

Can my children be a part of our MSC?

  • Absolutely! Here at Community Covenant, we are committed to being uniquely intergenerational. There will be opportunities each week for all ages to engage and participate.

Is a MSC something I can invite someone (not already part of CCC) to attend?

  • Yes! If you want to invite someone who does not yet have a church home, you may find that inviting them to be a part of a MSC is easier than inviting them to a church service.

How do I sign up?
